Exam day
Exam-day checklist. What the FAA and PSI ask for.
From the FAA's remote pilot pages and 14 CFR part 107. Check PSI's confirmation email for your center's own rules.
Before you book
- Create an IACRA profile and get your FAA Tracking Number (FTN); PSI asks for it when you schedule.
- Be at least 16, and able to read, speak, write and understand English (14 CFR 107.61).
- Schedule at an FAA-approved testing center through PSI; the fee is paid to PSI when you book.
Bring
- Government-issued photo ID with your signature and address (or a second document for the address).
- Your FTN.
- Nothing else is needed; the center provides the testing supplement with the figures and scratch material.
The test
- 60 multiple-choice questions, 2 hours, 70 percent to pass (FAA-S-ACS-10B, Appendix 1).
- Areas: Regulations 15 to 25 percent, Airspace 15 to 25, Weather 11 to 16, Loading and Performance 7 to 11, Operations 35 to 45.
- Each question is independent; a wrong answer does not affect another.
After
- Keep the Airman Knowledge Test Report; its 17-digit exam ID goes into your IACRA application (allow up to 48 hours for it to appear).
- Complete FAA Form 8710-13 in IACRA; the TSA check follows, then a temporary certificate you can print.
- If you did not pass, 14 CFR 107.71 requires 14 calendar days before retesting.
